Autumn Song Photography is a North Carolina area father-daughter team that specializes in intimate affairs of the heart, from a baby's first breath to the day they walk down the aisle and everything in between. We believe that simple is alluring...we believe real is priceless...and we believe pure is beautiful. More importantly, we believe in the power of candid and unguarded moments. We capture life as it happens.
That being said, we won't be asking you to do anything that doesn't come from your own heart. All we ask is for real emotion and we'll make sure that our photographs are as charming and unique as you are.
Nestled just between Greensboro and Charlotte, we cover events in Winston Salem, High Point, Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, Wilmington--and well, anywhere you ask us to go!

09.27.11 Weddings
NC Wedding Photography-Allison and Drew

D ad and I set out Friday morning for our normal weekly long run/father-daughter time/strategy planning session. It rained on us the entire time...and Allison and Drew’s wedding day monopolized our conversation. The weather man was clear, the rain was sticking around the entire weekend.
Saturday morning came...still more rain. As we made our way to Allison’s grandfather’s home, where she and Drew would speak their vows OUTSIDE, the rain continued. Shortly after 3pm the clouds broke and the rain left. We checked our phones for the weather--which revealed a storm heading towards us, due to hit at approximately 4:30pm--just as Allison was scheduled to make her way down the aisle.
At 4:25 the storm split and went right around us. It was incredible. Allison couldn’t have had prettier weather that afternoon. We were rejoicing with her in a rain free ceremony--complete with a rainbow! How incredible that one of the greatest covenants that God made with His people was revealed at a ceremony that celebrated one of man and woman’s greatest covenants with God. Maybe its just the romantic in me, but I thought it was pretty special.
Congratulations Allison and Drew! We are honored you let us weave ourselves into your lives for the day!

S everal months ago, we had the pleasure of working with Rebecca Rose Events to photograph a styled engagement shoot out at Adaumont Farm. Its always so refreshing to photograph a couple who wears their heart on their sleeve...combine that with great styling and the beautiful back drop of Adaumont and voila...PRETTY PRETTY PRETTY!

Light....
...that word pierces my soul. The simple word on a page beckons some sort of respect and causes me to pause. I know with that word comes some sort of truth that I'm going to be really happy to hear.
When I first indicated to dad that I wanted to pick up a camera and learn under him, he started me out with the pure basics--he trained me as if I were shooting a film camera. The first words he told me were these: If you are going to be successful, it is absolutely imperative that you know light--that you know it inside out...that you know how light behaves and that you know how to manipulate it.
I thought--sweet! That's easy enough. I took physics in college and I KNOW LIGHT. I would later find out that knowing light is a constant pursuit--that its something I must keep in mind every time I push my shutter release button. I found this defination of light when I was thinking over doing a blog post:
Light is a natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.
Simple enough--yet I am constantly surprised that so many photographers do not know light--so many are putting an "In Business" sign on their door without even knowing the foundation of SIGHT and VISION.
The second best piece of advice dad gave me was this. Do not do photography to make money. That won't happen. Do it to make a difference and do it because you are passionate. Passion and money rarely collide.
Ain't that the truth :)
