Autumn Song Photography is a North Carolina area father-daughter team that specializes in intimate affairs of the heart, from a baby's first breath to the day they walk down the aisle and everything in between. We believe that simple is alluring...we believe real is priceless...and we believe pure is beautiful. More importantly, we believe in the power of candid and unguarded moments. We capture life as it happens.
That being said, we won't be asking you to do anything that doesn't come from your own heart. All we ask is for real emotion and we'll make sure that our photographs are as charming and unique as you are.
Nestled just between Greensboro and Charlotte, we cover events in Winston Salem, High Point, Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, Wilmington--and well, anywhere you ask us to go!
Thanks for checking us out, we hope you enjoy your visit. Oh and while you’re here, leave us a comment, we’d love to hear from you.

Have you ever heard the saying, "eyes are the windows to the soul"? As a photographer, its always been a really interesting quote to me.
I noticed something--a trend--starting a few years ago in the photography world. I noticed--and I'm guilty of it myself--an increase in the use of photoshop actions. Soon enough, we photographers started styling shoots...putting our "subjects" in odd places...and using lenses that were so long we could shoot a great photograph without having much interaction with the person on the other end of the lens. Again--I'm guilty of them all. Though, I did find that this way of photographing was unnatural to me--I felt trapped and restricted.
So I'm breaking free.
I've always loved people. I find them intriguing. I find that people always--no matter who they are--have a story to tell. I find most often, you can read their story in their eyes. In the series of photographs below, I chose a Pentax 67 and a 105 mm lens with an extension tube attached. I shot wide open to slice away the depth of field. What I wanted was to see life in their eyes. All of the photographs below were shot no more than 2 feet away. I love how their eyes seem to dance with life and burn with intensity.
I'll leave you with one more quote...
"a picture is worth a thousand words"
Its nice when we can make sure those words tell the story that needs to be told...to their children, grandchildren...great grandchildren.

03.19.12 Engagements

Engagement Photography: Meredith + Tripp
|

I had the pleasure of photographing Meredith and Tripp a few weeks ago. They are getting married in the fall at Adaumont Farm in Trinity--so we took a trip out there to do their engagement photos. It was cold and windy, which made for a little bit of a challenge but a LOT of laughs. We had so much fun and are looking forward to what will certainly be a beautiful September wedding day.

S ometimes, when I look around at those people in my life that the Lord has blessed me with, I stand in awe of His love for me. Some people He fits so perfectly into my life. Jessica is one of those people. Luke and Jessica (and their sweet little family) are such a treasure to my family. SO when Jessica told me she was expecting and then asked if I'd be at the birth to photograph the new baby, I was completely honored and humbled.
Jessica sent a text last Monday letting me know they were on their way to the hospital. As I was driving over, I began to pray that God would equip me to show the magnificent and dynamic beauty that is in the miracle of birth. It was amazing to me that the Author of creation...the One who holds the stars in place and tells the sun when to shine--the One who breathes life into our bodies would allow me to watch and to capture such a precious moment. He had been intimately forming baby Abigail for months...taking great pains to make certain she was perfect in His sight. AND even in her smallness, His love stands in its complete fullness. I prayed right there between floors 3 and 5 that she would be able to walk in and understand the fullness of His love for her. I was terrified that I would be in such awe and wonder that I would forget to press the shutter release. But alas--His grace is good and my fingers worked just fine.
So...sweet little Abigail...
"The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord life up His countenance on you,
And give you peace."
Numbers 6:24-26
Congratulations Luke, Jessica, Elizabeth, Ashley, Lucas, Aaron, Olivia and Ella! I think little Abigail is going to fit in perfectly. |
